Everyone is talking about their resolutions and how this will be “their best year yet”…but how are you going to make it happen?

Writing vague, generic goals such as “I want to grow the business and be more successful” rarely become reality. I don't want you to be mediocre (like many others), I want you to set goals that stretch you and your business this year.

Outline what you want to achieve and plan how you are going to get there. You need to add some specifics, this is where the difference of goal setting with Sandler becomes apparent.

How do you get started with setting goals for 2017 or even 2018?

  • Make a cut and paste board: This is a great tool to start with and is very visual. Ask yourself “What is important, why is it important to me and how do I get there?” then make a board from attractive pictures and words that represent your goals. Set it up in your office, on your screen saver or carry a copy of it in your notepad. This will remind you daily, why you are doing what you are doing and push you to keep moving forward.

  • Create a cookbook: this is a list of activities you must complete in order to achieve your goals. You will be able to monitor your progress and keep yourself on track throughout the year rather than losing sight of what you were aiming for and getting distracted by the mundane tasks.

  • Mindset: Many professionals talk about being present in every moment. Positive affirmations will help you with this. Write down 5 things you love about your job or business and your life. Review them daily. These will remind you of the things you are grateful for and enjoy every day, whilst you are trying to stretch yourself to your new goals.

New goals often involve stepping out of your comfort zone. With practice, what makes you uncomfortable today will be a distant memory in a couple of months’ time. Remember, you only have to be brave for a few seconds at a time.
